Hypnotherapy and Stage Hypnosis Compared
People often confuse the showmanship of stage hypnosis with the problem-solving techniques of hypnotherapy. The main objective of stage hypnosis is to entertain the audience, whilst, by contrast, hypnotherapy is about achieving a positive change in someone's life by overcoming something they feel is holding them back or causing problems for them. In both cases the process of hypnosis is similar, but the aim of the exercise is very different.

How Hypnotherapy Works
Our subconscious mind influences every aspect of our lives. On a physical level, our bodies function without our having to think about, for instance, making our heart beat or our lungs breathe. In life we are constantly bombarded with information. There is too much for our conscious mind to absorb, so we filter out a huge amount automatically. However, our subconscious is awake all the time and remembers everything.

Our subconscious mind is also responsible for how we react to situations in our lives because our subconscious remembers the past and relates it to what happens in current situations. Sometimes this relationship is painful and our reaction to something which is, in reality quite harmless, is totally inappropriate. For example a phobic reaction to, say, spiders.

With hypnotherapy, the unpleasant associations can be changed to pleasant associations and therefore eliminate the phobia.

Many other negative belief systems can be changed to reflect a positive and confident oulook on life to enable each individual to become the best they can be ... in every aspect of their life.

The list below shows just some ways in which hypnotherapy can be used to correct unhelpful beliefs.

Remember, your subconscious is powerful and with hypnotherapy, we can harness that power for our benefit and our success and fulfillment.
